Indulgence done right, Luker Chocolate’s new Caramelo 33% couverture

31 August 2022: Colombian B4B chocolate manufacturer, Luker Chocolate launches its new Caramelo 33%, caramel chocolate couverture. Crafted at origin, the new caramel chocolate combines Luker’s signature Cacao Fino de Aroma and sustainability practices with one of the most popular confectionery flavours in the world.

Indulgence ‘the Luker way’: for purpose-driven chocolate brands

Luker works with challenger chocolate brands across the world to create products using the finest quality cocoa, all crafted at origin and fully sustainable. In an effort to drive wellbeing across the value chain, Luker collaborates with farmers to grow cocoa whilst protecting the environment, boosting local economies and developing rural communities. Caramelo 33% is the latest offering from the chocolate manufacturer and the first within their new “Sensación” indulgent product line. This new fine chocolate couverture highlights the unique flavour notes of Cacao Fino de Aroma with a balanced caramel flavour.  Luker uses caramelised milk to create a classic, sweet flavour and velvety smooth finish, inspired in the traditional caramel-like treats found in different regions of Colombia like “arequipe” and “manjar blanco”.

This chocolate creates a feeling of familiarity and nostalgia for the consumer, while presenting a perfect canvas for brands and chocolatiers looking to create new and exciting flavour combinations and textures in  confectionery, snacking, baking and even hot chocolate.

A caramel chocolate couverture set in nostalgia

Today, consumers are seeking more indulgent experiences that make them feel good. Particularly when it comes to consumer snacking choices, often opting for decadent treats made with the best ingredients. In response to this behaviour, caramel has remained one of the top three flavours in confectionary over the last five years (Innova Market Insights), with its familiar, nostalgic taste resonating with consumers of all ages.

In unison, consumers are also becoming more environmentally conscious, actively looking for brands with a commitment to sustainability, according to a 2022 report on consumer behaviour from Deloitte. With Luker’s expertise and transparent value chain, this is an ideal opportunity for artisanal chocolatiers, brand owners and small manufacturers to explore new production creations with Caramelo 33%.

Endless applications for confectionery, baking and snacking segments

For any Luker product the whole chocolate process remains within Colombia. Luker chocolate is crafted entirely at origin using Cacao Fino de Aroma, Colombia’s signature cacao. The delicate balance of cocoa and caramelised milk results in a smooth, milky and intense caramel sensory profile. This makes it ideal for everyday confectionery and baking creations as well as sophisticated chocolate confections. In fact, in the last 12 months, 34% of UK chocolate bar launches used caramel as a flavour.

As a base chocolate, it is incredibly versatile. Its creamy, indulgent taste can be the perfect vessel for inclusions such as hazelnut or sea salt to create more adventurous chocolate bars. It is also perfect for panning a crunchy centre like cashews or cocoa nibs or pairing with more spicy and exotic flavours like chai.

Caramelo 33% is the latest addition to Luker’s new ‘Sensación’ line of indulgent chocolate couvertures. It is available for purchase worldwide, and available for direct purchase online in the UK.
